Britain's top 70s tennybopper band first charted in 1971 with '
Keep On Dancing', which
Pop entrepreneur
Jonathan King sang on and were named after a town in
Utah or
Michigan (depending on whose version you believe),
USA. By 1974, the tartan-clad combo scored nine
UK Top 10 hits including the
No. 1s '
Bye Bye Baby' and '
Give A Little Love'.
Once their carer peaked in Europe, it took off in the USA: their six Top 40 hits included the chart-topping 'Saturday Night'. Althought they were successful, 'Rollermania' subsided and the 'biggest British band since The Beatles" was relegated to the nostalgia circuit.
