Football team in the
National Football League (
NFL).
Buffalo was one of the founding teams of the
AFL back in the
'60s. It has been owned by
Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. since its founding. They play in
Orchard Park,
NY, a suburb of Buffalo, in Ralph Wilson
Stadium (formerly Rich Stadium).
The
Bills won several AFL
championships in the '60s and were
AFC Champions for four straight years (1990-1993), which is an NFL record. Unfortunately, the Bills lost all four of those
Super Bowls.
Former Bills players include 1996
Vice Presidential candidate Jack Kemp, and acquitted
murderer OJ Simpson.
Also, hall of famers
Marv Levy (
coach), and
Jim Kelly (
QB), and future (likely) hall of famers
Bruce Smith (
DE),
Thurman Thomas (
RB), and
Andre Reed (
WR) were also Bills.
The Bills missed the
playoffs only two years during the
'90s (1994,1997) and posted one of the highest
winning percentages for the
decade.
The team is currently coached by
Gregg Williams.
