The
Dayton Dragons are a
Class A
minor league
baseball team in
Dayton,
Ohio. They are a new
team (2000) and belong in the
Midwest League. Along
with the
Mudville Nine, the Dragons are a Class A
affiliate of the
Cincinnati Reds. The Dragons' uniforms
are either green and black or green and white.
Despite being only Class A, the Dragons have no problem
filling up their stadium, the Fifth Third Field (named
after their sponsor, the Fifth Third Bank --
gotta love mergers!). It's interesting
that tickets to Dragons' games are twice as expensive
and harder to get than tickets to see the Columbus
Clippers, which is a Class AAA team. Perhaps this is
because Dayton doesn't have much else in the way of professional sports, or because the Dragons are new.
One of the team's owners is Earvin "Magic"
Johnson.
