A
database that is created with a fixed size. As new entries are added to the
tables they take the place of older entries. One can set up a Round
Robin Database to hold as much or as little
data as they feel they need, or as thier space limitations dictate. This can be very useful in tracking
statistics, where data older than a month or a year is
insignificant, and makes it so the
Systems Administrator, or
Database Administrator doesn't have to
muck about removing old data.
A free Round Robin Database utility for
Linux is availible at http://ee-staff.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/rrdtool/
