goofy foot

The name for riding a skateboard with your right foot as the front one. The opposite of regular foot. I dont know the history of the 'goofy' part, perhaps it is because regular stance was dominant for a long time until they achieved somewhat equal ridership share.

I happen to ride goofy, which is why it gets a better writeup than regular.

This term is also applied to snowboarding, and occasionally surfing. This may or may not have something to do with the strengths of the legs, but there is no definite correlation between riding style and any kind of side dominance.

In surfing, goofy foot means to surf with the right foot in front of the left foot. The opposite of goofy foot is known as natural or natural foot.
