It's that
smile that people give other
strangers, the one that stops just below your nose and never hits your
eyes. The smile that people do when they don't mean it, as if they didn't know you can see it for what it is because you've probably done it yourself. I don't know what sort of
conventional behavoir dictates this smile, probably the same one that dictates asking "
Can I ask you a question?" before asking a question Both conventions should be destroyed.
I don't know, it seems as if that kind of smile only serves to accentuate the
invisible wall between you and the person smiling.
