Parker Dam is the deepest dam in the world. Structurally 320 feet high, 235 feet lie below the riverbed. Built between
1934 and
1938, this dam spans the
Colorado River between
California and
Arizona. Parker Dam's reservoir,
Lake Havasu is roughly 45 miles long and provides roughly 900 billion gallons of water to residents of both states each year.
The dam is also used to regulate the Colorado River and generate hydroelectric power.
