Ah, the venerable
B Button. This button was
introduced to me way back when the
Nintendo Entertainment System was new. I thought it was unusual that the
joypad would be laid out with
Select,
Start,
B, then
A because I thought A should come before B. But it started a tradition, and
Nintendo has stuck with it forever.
- NES? B comes before A.
- SNES? B comes before A.
- Game Boy? B comes before A (and this includes the color models).
- Virtual Boy (snicker snicker)? B comes before A.
- N64? B comes before A there, as well.
Apparently, Nintendo wants to
rearrange the
alphabet. Can they do that? Oh, it's been so long since I've played my NES... I still have it, and yes, it still
operates according to spec. What a deal.
