First group of troops sent from Britain to aid the French in WWI. The force was slightly smaller than originally planned but they ended up facing the major invasion force of the Germans. Due to various bits of bumbling by Generals in the French and English armies they weren't prepared for the Schlieffen Plan. The brunt force of the Kaiser's forces ended up crashing into the British who weren't really ready.
