The Columbine High School shooting did -not- happen in Littleton, Colorado!

Littleton is on the very western end of Arapahoe County, for which it is also the County Seat. The western border of the City of Littleton (for the most part) and Arapahoe County is Sheridan Boulevard (or parallel equivalent), which is at 5200 West (In the Denver Metro Area, streets are named based on their location on the grid). Columbine High is in unincorporated Jefferson County, off of Bowles Avenue and Pierce Street (6800 West, or, 16 blocks west of the Arapahoe/Jefferson border).

Columbine High School is in the Littleton ZIP code 80123, which includes the northwestern tip of the City of Littleton west of the South Platte River (the border of 80123 and 80120), a tiny part of southwestern Denver (bordering Littleton); and slivers of Lakewood and unincorporated Jefferson County. The majority of ZIP code 80123 is west of Sheridan Boulevard, and includes Columbine High.

I know it wouldn't have looked as shocking on CNN's live reports that would have had fancy screen montages entitled 'The Unincorporated Jefferson County Tragedy'.

"This is Meedia Whoreman. I'm here in Unincorporated Jefferson County, Colorado at the site of the Columbine Tragedy..."

It was interesting having a famous surrogate hometown in 1999... for about 2 seconds. Ooh, Littleton. The big murder place. I lived five minutes away from that blasted high school (INSIDE city limits!). Hey, I made a funny!
