  • The Phonetic Alphabet has a separate writeup, though it refers to the NATO/Aeronautics standard, which is International in scope.

  • The United States Department of Defense (DoD) is not also known as "all military organizations." I'm sure NATO allies, the Israeli Army, and others would take offense.

  • The NATO standard spells J as Juliett, as listed above, not Juliette or Juliet. I'm sure the distinction is clearer for French speakers.

  • A is spelled Alpha in NATO, though the Department of Defense spells it Alfa. Many details have changed through the history of these standards, and still have differences. Many police departments use Indigo for I, not India.
