British political cartoonist, born in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1891. He worked for several newspapers in New Zealand and Australia before coming to London, where he spent the rest of his life. Most well-known for his work at the Evening Standard where he created Colonel Blimp amongst many other characters. He was knighted in 1962 less than a year before his death.
