This node has been created to illustrate the graphic hatred teenagers show towards each other, and how serious bullying is. This is a true story.
A girl had been part of the 'cool' clique at my school, and had, through various episodes, managed to fall into disfavour. She became very depressed, and over the previous year had tried to commit suicide many times. Her depression this time, was so bad that she was ready to end her life once more. The girl tied a rope around her neck, and was standing in the stairwell, but in a subconcious attempt to save herself, rang one of her old friends from the 'cool' clique. She explained where she was and what she was about to do. The ex-friend, a 15 year old girl, replied "Well, do it right bitch" and hung up.
Fortunately, the girl did not commit suicide that day. Fortunately, my friends and I befriended her until she moved school. It was a happy ending in this case, but in so many other cases, it's not. Many teenagers do not live happily ever after.
So what is driving the world's youth to the edge? Do teenagers have no respect for their peer's lives? I cannot answer these questions, but these problems cannot be ignored. While I have to admit that suicidal teens really irritate me, I also know that I would never say "Do it right" to my worst enemy.
Please help any depressed people you know, and you might save their lives. Talk to them, for as long as they need. There are enough deaths already, don't ignore the problems in the world's youth!
