Emela-Ntouka is Lingala for "Killer of Elephants" or "Water-Elephant." Emela-Ntouka is generically referred to as Mokele-Mbembe.

Around the size of an elephant, Emela-Ntouka has a tail similar to that of a crocodile. It also has a lone horn on the front of its head that is similar to the tusk of an elephant.

Emela-Ntouka is said to kill buffalo and elephants by stabbing them with its horn. This belief lends to the argument that Emela-Ntouka is nothing more than fantasy.
