epidermis with
ultraviolet radiation.
The name is a riff on the popular product shake 'n bake which allows harried home meal preparers to easily slap a crust on whatever piece of meat they're serving. Replace home meal preparer with fashion monger; crust with tan; and serving with inhabiting and you've got the new meaning!
