Fark.com's answer to the
Slashdot Effect.
Fark.com gets millions upon millions of
hits daily from people looking for
quirky,
interesting, or
funny web sites. Most of these
web sites end up on servers that can't handle millions upon millions of users. Usually the linked server shuts down after too many hits. Since the hits have almost all come from
Fark.com, the commentors on the link say that the site is "Farked"
The condition is most annoying when anything gets linked to from a
Geocities or similar
free web site, as they get always Farked in a matter of minutes,
never to be seen again.
