FE is also a commonly used abbreviation in the Canadian (and probably others) mutual fund industry. It stands for Front End, or Front-end Load, which is a kind of commission charged on mutual fund purchases. Commission on FE funds is charged as a flat percentage of your initial purchase amount, but after that there is no charge to switch between other FE funds in the same fund family. FE is also called ISC, or Initial Sales Charge, by some companies.
