Google's news indexing mechanism, news.google.com. Unlike other Internet news sites, Google's site involves no human editing at all, but is rather generated by a computer algorithm not unlike the one their search page uses.

The algorithm, which uses frequency counts of references to a given subject to group articles, does an amazingly good job, but that's just my opinion; go thither and see for yourself. The fact that front-page articles are selected by a computer also means that the presentation is naturally much less biased than most other news sources; an article picked for any given subject might take the side opposite that to which a reader is accustomed.
