A top songwriter of the 60s, writing hits for The Yardbirds, The Hollies,
et al. Later worked in the US for Kasanetz/Katz, the Stock Aitken Waterman of bubblegum pop (e.g. The Archies' "Sugar Sugar"). Joined 10cc; stayed with the band (along with Eric Stewart) after the Godley and Creme schism, and co-wrote some of their biggest hits, until punk made subtlety irrelevant. Formed Wax with Andrew "Lonely Boy" Gold. Produced The Ramones Pleasant Dreams - the band were fans of GG's songs.
