Inline four-cylinder internal combustion engine. The cylinders are arranged in a straight line rather than in a V-shape like a V6 or a V8. This makes the engine a longer, narrower one rather than a "V" engine. Found in many compact cars. Porches and other racing oriented cars such as the Lexus IS300 have an I6 or "Flat Six" engine.
