The
International Tuba-
Euphonium Association was founded in
Montreal in 1968 as the
Tubists' Universal Brotherhood Union. According to ITEA's website, the organization grew out of informal gathering of New York City tubists.
ITEA was established to enhance the role and happiness of the average tuba or euphonium player. They produce a journal, to which 160 libraries subscribe. They have commisioned 27 pieces for tuba and euphonium since 1974.
Membership in ITEA includes a free subscription the quarterly ITEA journal, discounted admission to sponsored events, an ITEA membership card, access to the ITEA WWW members' site, and periodic discounts (on instruments and such) in the journal.
