A main character in the epic saga Shogun by James Clavell. Mariko is the Japanese translator for the main character Blackthorne. They eventaully fall in love, and she becomes one of the main political figures in the story.

Wife to Toda Buntaro (Lord Hosokawa) in James Clavell's Shogun. In real life Mariko was named Gracia, and is correctly portrayed as being christian.
