Nabopolassar became king of Babylonia in 626 BC with the help of the Chaldeans.
He began the rebuilding of Babylon, although it was his son Nebuchadnezzar who did the greater portion of the work during his kingship.
Nabopolassar died on August 15, 605 BC.
