Nasal Steroids (or nasal corticosteroids) are a
form and
class of medications which are used to treat
diseases such as
allergic rhinitis and
sinusitis. The
steroid medication contained in them is often the same that is found in
asthma metered dose inhalers (MDIs) or
topical forms.
Currently available in 2002:
A recent study suggests that they are more efficacious than antihistamines in treating allergic rhinitis.
Side effects include nasophayngeal irritation, sneezing, epistaxis, rash, headache, and nasal septal perforation.
