Located on Lake Michigan about 40 miles north of Chicago, was opened on 1 July 1911. During World War II, nearly a million men were trained at Great lakes.
Naval Traing Center Great Lakes consists of the following commands:
Service School Command (SSC)
Recruit Training Command (RTC)
