I can remember it clear as day.
And I'll bet you can't,
not anymore.

We used to hang on to
every word that we'd say.
I still do.

I get that it's over
and it's better this way.
You don't have to worry.
I won't be coming back.

You won't see me underneath
your window at night.
You won't see me at your door.

I won't send you flowers
and beg for you back.

It's like Alzheimer's,
I can remember the beginning,
but not the end.

It's better this way.

Nobody's perfect forever,
but you lasted a long time.
