An alternate name for the canadian dollar that has recently become more popular in my circle of friends. I use this term to denote my displeasure over the fact that Canada has become a source of cheap labor and natural resources for the U.S.A.

In Canada a yearly salary of more than 60,000 northern pesos is considered doing well. The majority of people make less than that. It is not uncommon for young techies to make minimum wage (In Quebec that would be a whopping 6.95 NPesos an hour). It is a good thing that housing here is so cheap because if rent in Canada was analogous to rent in any american city we'd all be homeless.

If you're an American visiting Canada on vacation it is customary to refer to northern pesos as canadian fun tokens.
