Nubia is a region in Africa on the upper course of the Nile (from the First Cataract, close to Aswan to the Sixth Cataract). Currently, the region is split between Egypt and Sudan.

Archaeological records of human occupation in Nubia are ancient, and progress through various Bronze Age culture to a period of complete colonial control by Egypt, starting around 1500 BC.
After that comes the time of the Kingdom of Kush, when a Nubian dinasty actually controlled Egypt.
Nubia was completely converted to Christianity by the end of the sixth century AD.
