Testicle Determining Factor. The name of one of the genes on the Y chromosome. This gene in fact determines the gender of the fetus. If you've got it you're male, if you don't you're female. If this gene is defected or lacking a female will develop in spite of the existance of a Y chromosome, this is of course very rare, as many of these fetus die before birth.
