Throughout history, Macintoshes have made various sounds to signal their emotion, a bit like a furby or tamagotchi.

All macs have a characteristic "I'm Alive!" sound when they first turn on. This is different for different models of macintosh.

When a serious error occurs (usually in hardware), or you press command-power immediately after powerup, the macintosh attemts to frighten onlookers with the Chimes of Death.

Macintoshes also have a variety of traditional sounds during normal operation, such as the quack and the eep
