Rare percussion instrument popularized for use in staged musicals and symphony orchestras.

Traditionally a gigantic strip of sheet metal hung from the ceiling or a very large stand on wheels and played with a bass drum mallet. The sheet metal must be thin and must curl at the bottom for the proper sound to be produced.
