A starship in the Star Trek fictional universe. First appears in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock as the most advanced ship in the Federation; with the removal of a few chips Scotty effortlessly sabotages it. (The sound effects of a backfiring automobile engine are priceless.)

The ship makes a cameo in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home as the bridge crew are being ferried to their new ship; Scotty dreads the possibility that this is the one. Finally, the Excelsior appears under the command of Captain Sulu for a good portion of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country as it assists the USS Enterprise during the battle at Khitomer against General Chang.
