Velvia is a slide film manufactured by Fuji, and is a worthy competitor to Kodachrome 25. I find it works best when slightly overexposed (as 40 or 32 ASA) which cuts down the much too vivid greens.

As of PMA 2003, the professional-grade slide film Velvia will soon be available in several varieties:

• Velvia 50F, the good old Velvia we all know and love; a highly contrasty, brilliantly saturated film that's best overexposed a little, such as by 0.5 stops (an effective speed of around ISO 40)
• Velvia 100F, a faster version of the same. According to Fuji's press release, it's got the same "grain structure" as Astia 100F, Fuji's well-known negative film; they also claim to have added "a fourth color layer that corrects the way the film 'sees' green hues," so perhaps the new Velvia won't be quite as prone to rendering grass in fluorescent lime. Unfortunately, the name still sounds like a 70's porno flick.
