Vibes On A Summers Day as the name partially implies, is an annual Australian music festival inspired by the Australian summer. When the festival was born in the mind of DJ, and promoter Joe Conneely in 94, it was intended as a one off acid jazz and funk all dayer to provide an alternative to the more rock-based all day festivals. However, the overwhelming success of the first event has kept the ball rolling 9 years and I truly doubt it'll stop any time soon.
From its humble beginnings in the Bondi Pavilion, Bondi Beach, Vibes on a Summers Day has become an Australian institution. It has grown into an all ages national tour often exceeding attendance of 50,000, and has featured Australian and International artists and DJ's such as: Norman Jay, Wicked Beat Sound System, Endorphin, Rae and Christian, Supreme Beings of Leisure, St. Germain, Propellerheads, Jamiroquai and Groove Armada.
This day of funk filled grooves has managed (by no surprise) to win the Australian Dance Music Award's best event 2 years running, and the best dance party event in 2001. Vibes also won the Best Dance Party Event award at the Australian Music Week conference 2001, which was held in Sydney.
Vibes on a Summers Day is far from growing old. Bigger and brighter as the years pass, Vibes is increasing so much in popularity that tickets to the 2002 Sydney event sold out at lightening speed.
A laid back day for people who love good music, dance, and summer days - The perfect chill out before the end of summer grows near. Vibes on a Summers Day remains the perfect soundtrack to the Australian summer. In 2003 Vibes is bigger than ever, but then again since it is the 10th Anniversary you'd probably expect it to be something special. This ever chilled summer festival is touring around Australia starting in Perth on the 19th, and ending in Auckland, New Zealand on the 6th of February... Yes. You heard right, for the first time ever Vibes on a Summers Day is hitting NZ shores. Can we kick it? We sure can!!
