WisCon is the feminist science fiction convention held every Memorial Weekend in Madison, WI. The James Tiptree Jr. Memorial Award is given either at WisCon or at Readercon. WisCon usually attracts a great many professional writers and editors, and it's one of the cons where a lot of publishing deals take place behind the scenes. It's one of the better smaller cons for writers to network at if they can't make it to any of the Worldcons.
