ZDoom

ZDoom is an enhanced mod/port of Doom by Randy Heit that will run under DOS, Windows 95 / 98 / NT and Linux.

Some differences between ZDoom and Doom:

• Free look (look up/down)
• High resoulutions
• Translucency
• A console
• MOD and MIDI support
• Better mouse support
• Limited TCP/IP networking
• Quake-style key bindings
• Jumping
• Crosshairs
• Walk over/under monsters

In the past, ZDoom under both win32 and Linux used MIDAS for sound. This changed in v1.23 -- win32 sound is now being handled by FMOD, which supports ImpulseTracker 2.25 modules, MP3 streams and CD audio.

The developer is also currently adding support for Heretic and Hexen.

ZDoom can be used and distributed free of charge and is subject to the Doom Source Code, MIDAS Digital Sound System and Prometheus Trucolor licenses.
