The anomalistic year is amount of time it takes the Earth to travel from perihelion to perihelion (or aphelion to aphelion). This is different from the tropical year, the amount of time it takes the Earth to travel from solstice to the same solstice again (or from equinox to the same equinox) because of the precession of the equinoxes.
