A notion used to describe two events that happen simultaneously. Of course, it is impossible for two instructions to actually be executed exactly at the same time in a computer, since the CPU processes instructions in order, but through timeslices and such, race conditions can indeed ocurr when certain events happen very close to simultaneously.
