One who buttles. Often responsible for murders in country house mysteries.

Famous (fictional) butlers include:

• Jeeves, butler to Bertie Wooster
• Cato, butler to Inspector Clouseau
• various Blackadders

Butler was also a character in the lame British sitcom On The Buses.

An officer in a king's or a nobleman's household, whose principal business it is to take charge of the liquors, plate, etc.; the head servant in a large house.
