A
campout organized by a council or district of the
Boy Scouts of America. Scout troops from near and sometimes far will converge on a campground for a weekend. Frequent activities are:
- Presentations on camping skills or building stuff. My troop once demonstrated how to make rafts out of planks, rope, and giant plastic barrels.
- Making a gateway to your campsite. My troop did this once. We had forgotten completely about the competition, and were unprepared. However, our campsite was near a large pile of debris from a house, including assorted wood, nails, rope, and even a door! We also made a flag and a little sign that said "Camp Vietnam".
- A Klondike Derby
