Used to indicate that something with an absolute meaning should not be taken so absolutely. For example, if a program works (for certain values of ``work''), then it works most of the time. Generally, the `values' for which it does not work are not known.

The above example shall not be used to refer to anything made by MicroSoft, for which ``for no values of work'' is more appropriate.
