Bent, broken, dastardly, or just plain evil perhaps. You would consider things like The Mob to be crooked, but some mobsters would take offense, and suggest that better examples are used car dealers or (shudder) used computer dealers. Laywers aren't necessarily crooked, really, they just lie a lot.

Or there's other cases of things just being plain out of whack, such as The Leaning Tower of Pisa which is doing a pretty good job of falling over in slow motion.
