A dropquote (also called a quotation puzzle) is a type of word puzzle in which a quotation is written across the rows of a grid, with a single black square between words and with words wrapping around the ends of lines (that is, in the style of a crostic answer), and then all the letters from each column are removed and printed in random or alphabetical order below that column.

The puzzle then consists of trying to reconstruct the quotation.

Example:

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ # _ _ _ _ #
_ _ _ # _ _ _ _ _ # _ _ _ _
_ # _ _ _ _ # _ _ _ _ _ _ _
===========================
F L A H A D O D A N E E R F
