Also called 4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol and represented by the molecular formula C₁₀H₁₂O₂, as stated below. Possess a boiling point of 487°F (253°C) and a melting point of 15.44°F (-9°C). Density is 1.066. Water solubility is less than 0.1 grams/100 mL @ 20° C (room temp). Flash point is 110°C (230°F). The LD50 in rats, orally is 2680 mg/kg, and is 500 mg/kg when administered intravenously.

As stated below, is often found in clove and pimento oils, but is also found in bay leaves, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Also occurs as a pale yellow liquid. Eugenol is often found in toothache medication, as a food flavoring, and in clove cigarettes.

A colorless, aromatic, liquid hydrocarbon, C10H12O2 resembling the phenols, and hence also called eugenic acid. It is found in the oils of pimento and cloves.
