An adjustable slider used to control sound source. Often used in a car stereo to determine how much sound is produced by the front speakers, as compared to the rear speakers.

The best kind of fader is the crossfader, which is used in a DJ setup to mix two sound sources together. A fader is essential in any mixing setup.
