(ok, so this is actually about both reading and writing. sorry, didn't want to waste title space)

For reading, this phenomenon is easily found: reading either from front to back or back to front. It's harder to read books "backwards", but magazines and newspapers make it much easier to do so. I find that almost all of my magazine reading is actually both: I read the first time through backwards, then read it again more carefully forwards. (then repeat, of course)

Writing is similar, most people writing forwards, with a few brave souls filling the pages back to front. Again, I like to do both, filling my journal from both ends. This helps me separate the bulk of it which is daily entries, and the time to time entries like quotes, dreams, and new words. Also, my notebooks are filled in an approximate binary partitioning scheme, with the new project splitting the largest section nearest the front.
