Supposedly, this is a term that south pacific islanders used to refer to human flesh, which has a vaguely pork-like flavor.

Oddly enough, Spam is now a very popular treat in the south pacific islands.

'Long Pig' is also the name of a restaurant in the Sci-fi comic book Transmetropolitan. They serve meat cut from cloned human vegetables.
