I thought that creating a memorial web page was the lamest idea I'd ever heard.

Then a close friend died.

We - that is, his surviving friends - all agreed that he would have hated the thought of a memorial web page, since he loathed the internet and was contemptuous of people who devoted time to it instead of getting a life.

So we put one up.

It's amazing - how much comfort it gave us.
