Also written mil-spec, this is a contraction of the term Military Specifications. A system, tool, computer, weapon , what have you is 'milspec' if it has been built to military specifications. The implication is that such a device or whatever will be more robust and have finer tolerances than a regular COTS version. This is, of course, not nearly always the case.
