Used in skateboarding, rollerblading and BMX. It is named so becase it is one quarter of a full pipe. Quarterpipes are found in skate parks and freestyle competitions. Quarterpipes are useful to get some big air off without having to be commited to using a halfpipe. Used alot in freestyle competitions for mixing up combos.
